Description

The programme will benefit those who wish to learn first aid as per their interest and also for those who want to pursue careers in which

first aid training and certification is necessary for recruitment like assistants and aides working in Nursing homes, mobile Ambulances, industries,

constructions sites, schools, sports or water sport coaches, Drivers, Conductors, Fire Marshals, Traffic Police, Army personnel’s, teachers in schools,

 flight cabin crew members and air-hostesses etc and for those whose organizations have made it mandatory for their workers to undergo first aid training.

After completing the programme the learners will be able to:

·         Describe and discuss the basic principles and skills for first aid.

·         Recognize the symptoms/conditions which require first aid.

·         Deal with emergency situations.

·         Provide first aid in various situations and settings.

·         Provide psychosocial first aid to victim and family

·         Demonstrate professional behavior, communication and facilitation skills to victim and family  to provide Emergency Care

·         also communication with other stakeholders like police press community leaders  especially during mass casualty and disaster

·         Health education for prevention Health Promotion early utilization of Healthcare facilities and as part of aftermath of disaster.

·         Assisting in medical social psychological rehabilitation through individual efforts and through team building

·         by mobilizing resources in community and engaging with professionals and paraprofessionals.

·         Settling in of the patient from hospital to home setting by providing counselling for psychosocial support and environmental facilitation

·         Training of various categories of people like community volunteers grassroot level workers of institution for immediate response to an emergency

Further the programme will be useful to those who are working in various capacities in the jobs where these competencies would

 be useful. Some examples are e.g. Nursing homes (as assistants/Aides), Drivers/ Conductors, Fire Marshals/Fire Stations, Traffic Police/Army personnel’s,

Sports and Physical Education, Teachers etc.

Proposed  Executive - Emergency Healthcare programme of IGNOU is at 4.5 level and has additional and advanced knowledge and skills required

during handling the emergency care like disaster management(Triage), epidemics & pandemic and Psychosocial first aid for victims and their

family members and hence has been named as Executive - Emergency Healthcare.

Eligibility
  • In-service persons having completed 12th grade or equivalent with  1.5  Years of experience  in Healthcare Sector

OR

  • In-service persons having completed 10th grade or equivalent with 4.5  Years of experience  in Healthcare Sector

NOTE:

1. At each Learner Support Centre (LSC), there are 30 seats. In the event of more applications being received for a  particular LSC, a merit list will be drawn.

2. The Reservation Rules as per the Government of India norms shall be applicable. 

3. If you are applying in the second category (10th pass with 4.5 years of experience), please upload your 10th pass certificte in place of 10+2 pass certificate also, and submit your application. 

4. This programme is open only to persons currently employed in Healthcare Sector. Uploading of experience certificate and NOC from your current employer is mandatory.
